Team HardTale started when a bloke named Paul (Stiffla) met a bloke named Matt (Angry), in a situation neither wanted to be part of. Their journey has endured some twenty years of adventure, across three continents and several islands with no end in sight. Along the way our intrepid adventurers have been joined by an assorted cast of likely accomplices, all featuring prominently in their own special way. The main stayers are listed under Team Bios, so read on and join in the adventure.
We pack and we unpack. We clean, organise, plan and map out adventures in brilliant locations throughout Australia, New Zealand and the rest of the world. Mostly we do this under the veil of 'Adventure Racing', where a team of two to four athletes cycle, run, paddle, climb, trek and navigate through generally remote locations, keeping company with only each other, whilst trying to beat home any like minded teams attempting the same feat.
Mostly held in the bush, Adventure Racing requires competitors to be able to ride a mountain bike, trek, paddle a kayak and usually read a map. Adventure races can last from 3 hours right up to 10 days, depending on the event and organisers. Anyone can do it! It is only as hard as you let it be and you can participate at what ever speed your team can handle. There are no Losers in adventure racing, just adventurers. If you like a challenge, have some friends and want to try it out, check the links to find an event organiser close to you (or miles away if preferred) and give them a call. They're a friendly bunch and will help you plan your first event. They might even help you out with any equipment you don't have already.
